BioWin: pre-call for projects in the framework of the 4th call for projects of the Walloon government Collaborative research projects aiming at the development of innovative tools, technologies, products and services in the following fields: - prediction of efficacy or safety, including prediction of the immunotoxicity of drugs/drug candidates - drug delivery - medical devices and equipment - regenerative medicine including cell therapy - diagnostics and screening methods The projects should preferably lead to applications in the fields of cancer, inflammation and brain diseases. In order to prepare Wallonia’s integration in European projects, such as those financed in the framework of “Innovative Medicine Initiative” (IMI) or FP7, special attention will be paid to innovative projects focusing on the IMI topics.. In addition, BioWin encourages the applicants to include one or more foreign partners in their consortia insofar as such a participation would improve the project. It is stressed that foreign partners, if applicable, will not be financed by the Walloon Region. Consortia must include at least four Walloon partners including two companies and two research bodies which must be affiliated to different universities. Projects must be coordinated by a company. In order to meet the objectives of the Marshall Plan, the projects must create economic activity and jobs in a shortterm. To that end, the budget and business plan of projects must contain a development section to be implemented within four years. In addition to ambitious projects extending over a period of maximum four years, BioWin wants to promote short-term “feasibility study” projects in the aforementioned domains. These projects must set out to demonstrate the feasibility of pioneering ideas with an industrial or commercial object over a period of maximum two years. Thee aim of these projects will be to obtain key preliminary data as to attract private capital or to strenghten a future application for a wider “close-to-the-market” type funding. Clinical trials for registration purposes will not be considered in this category. In addition to R&D projects, the 4th call for projects will also cover Training, Investment and Infrastructure sections. Specific information concerning these sections will be published with the official Call of the Walloon region. |
